long ago there was a temple
not too long ago it fell
and for all the damage down
and the memories it held

there was no one there to mourn
(it wasn't worth such reminiscing)
and its swift and sudden downfall
came to us all as a blessing

you are gone, you cursed place
let the rains of heaven rain down on your scarred and burnt up face

there was a god who i had worshipped
bright and merry, full of grace
said to me, "yes you are welcome here,
your praise has filled this place"

but the god held many secrets
and a prophetess confided
in my ear that she'd been martyred
after she had done what i did

you are gone, you wretched hole,
let the river of forgiveness wash the sins off of your soul

i remember in the garden
the prophet cried beside the sink
and told me all the words i knew but never
had the gall to think

and pretty soon the golden curtain
ripped in half in just a minute
i will always love that place
but not the god who lived within it

you are gone, o garden sweet
may the path the prophet walks on grow soft beneath her feet

now the temple is not holy
so i burn it to the ground
as martyrs lead the testimony
show the world what we have found

but that god will never suffer
like the others who deny them...
but ill shout out all their names
and lead the call to crucify them

you are gone, so very well
let the one who will blaspheme against you lead you into hell (x2)
